The area could see up to 500mm (3 inches) of rain over the weekend. The area would also see several storms, including strong thunderstorms and possibly lightning.
A „hazardous storm watch“ is due to be issued for much of the west and northeast for several days while the storm surge is predicted to be between 2.5 and 5 metres high.

What’s been left at home?
Most of the southern US and much of Canada would remain at high risk after the snow.
The National Weather Service in Washington state warns of „extremely dangerous weather conditions“ and warnings of snow-related flooding on a snow-slicked ground.

In the southern US, snow and wind damage has been reported after parts of the state of Oregon recorded more than 10cm (4.8in) of snow over a seven-day period.
In the Midwest, conditions have been much more extreme with storms and low pressure and low pressure systems combining in many places for as much as 24 hours on Tuesday.
The storm is forecast to move south and west through the middle of this week and remains largely out of the area on Saturday. A threat of significant, catastrophic damage remains.
