Report clears vic police of database misuse

After the State Coroner’s inquiry, Vic Police has admitted it „made errors“ and apologised for an alleged database error which saw it fail to include names of thousands of potential sexual offenders under a sex-offender registry.
The Victorian Coroner’s inquiry last year made 11 recommendations, including that a new sex-offender registry be established.
Chief Commissioner Andrew Scipione has admitted the problem was in mistake, as he explained it to the ABC.
„The problem with the data is this — we were unable to get that information for all of the sex offenders, as you can imagine, across the Victorian and regional areas, all of which were affected,“ Chief Commissioner Andrew Scipione said on Tuesday.
The chief commissioner said more than 15,000 sex offenders had been recorded in the database and many of them were still at large.
He said the Victorian government had taken action and the registry would be put in place within three years.
‚The community’s best interest at heart‘
Victorian Greens Senator Larissa Waters also issued her own apology for the failure.
„As a community, we love our children and we want to see them come out of a lifetime of abuse protected and cared for to be safe and healthy,“ Senator Waters said.
„Our children deserve better than to have such horrible incidents happening to them.
„The community’s best interest at heart is what’s being revealed, which is not just that people who are sexually v바카라iolent, who are abusive, do pose a danger to children, but we also know that these types of offenders can get away with things that are against the law, things that are against our laws.“
Ms Waters said she understood her colleague’s feelings but she also believed the community should be given time to accep더킹카지노t the evidence gathered by the inquiry.
„I think the community should be encouraged to say thank you to the Victoria Police for holding these people responsible,“ Ms Waters said.

A 23-year-old woman died of a head injury after swam in a pool as part of the Beach Beach Day at Nambour beach.
Her death was ruled a suicide.
