Northam shire pushes for northam town merger despite opposition

West Australian Premier Colin Barnett has proposed merging the northern and southern parts of the state together to create a north and south-east state.

In an editorial to be published today, the Sunday Morning Herald says the proposed merger would be bad for smaller towns, and that it would make the area „in crisis“.
The editorial states the proposed merger woulXO 카지노d be good for a regional economy, that would make it easier for people in larger towns to find jobs and that would help smaller towns cope with rising costs such as fuel bills.
Premier Barnett has said he was not making a political statement and that the idea was not based on a desire to split up Perth.
„I’m merely saying that merging the northern and southern areas and퍼스트카지노 taking the towns north and south-east would be good for regional and small town communities,“ he said in an interview with BBC Perth.
„The argument of separation is often made to the detriment of communities across these regions that currently rely on public transport, but would be unable to fund their own infrastructure, they will lose out to the north and south-east.“
But Mr Barnett has said he would be open to supporting the merger if it was backed up by $70 million from a regional revenue share.
„I would be open to supporting it if it was backed up by an additional $70 million from a revenue share,“ he said.
„Our focus right now is regional areas in the north-west and that’s where our tax base is.
„We’ve got very significant tax receipts from regional areas, but to really boost the tax base in those areas we need to spend more money to improve roads and infrastructure.
„So when we do go back to the regional government we will ensure that we invest in those areas that we will be able to sustain.“
The editorial says West Australians have not done enough to fund their own infrastructure, the issue of which is largely responsible for the region’s 부천출장샵current problems.
